DISABILITY
More Information
Coverage
You can obtain coverage for disability insurance two ways. One is to buy an individual policy. The other, and by far the more common, is as a benefit of employment. Employee Benefits are governed by a Federal Law called ERISA. If you are wondering if you have coverage through work, ask your Human Resources or Employee Benefits contact. Many people do not even realize they possess coverage until they ask.
Other Kinds of Insurance Claims
David Allen & Associates also assists with claims brought under Accidental Death & Dismemberment policies. These claims, as do all insurance claims, hinge on the policy, a contract between the company and either you, or your employer. The specifics of the contract, and the language in which it is written, can make or break your claim. Our firm was founded over 40 years ago by David Allen after he first spent years in the insurance industry. His experience makes him particularly familiar with the way in which policies are written and the manner in which the industry functions.
Making an Insurance Disability Claim
Initially making a claim is fairly straight forward. Your employer fills out a form, your doctor fills out a form, and you fill out a form. It then becomes complicated. When the insurance company receives these three opening documents it sends you a second batch of forms. The insurance company may order your medical records, or it may request you obtain them. When you return all the things the company asks for, you wait. You wait for what seems like an unreasonable amount of time. Then you may get a decision, or you may get a request for more information. Someone familiar with the process can be of tremendous help and may be able to achieve approval of your claim before the insurance company issues a standard denial.
